In
His Own Words: Barry Lando
I
have just completed a book, WEB OF DECEIT:
The History of Western Complicity Iraq from Churchill
to Kennedy to George W. Bush.
The
book is a greatly expanded version of a one hour documentary
I made with French reporter, Michel Despratx, for Canal
+ in France in October 2004, “The Trial
of Saddam Hussein, the Trial You’ll Never See”.
That report dealt with the hypocrisy of putting Saddam
and his lieutenants on trial without also delving into
the role that foreign leaders and businessmen played in
aiding and abetting the former dictator–and his crimes.
The documentary was subsequently broadcast in several
countries, but not in the United States.
My
journalistic experience includes 25 years as a producer
with CBS “60 Minutes”, which I left in 1997. Prior to
that I was a correspondent for Time-Life in South America.
I have also freelanced articles over the years for a large
range of North American and European publications.
I received a B.A. magna in History at Harvard and an M.A.
in political science from Columbia University. A Canadian
citizen (born in Vancouver), I currently live in Paris
with my wife and 14 year old son. Two older children live
and work in the U.S. and Canada.
