Barbara Hemphill is the CEO of Hemphill Productivity Institute (HPI), founded in 1978 with a $7 ad in a New York City newspaper promoting Barbara’s services as an organizing consultant for homes and offices. Barbara’s passion is to enable everyone to accomplish their work and enjoy their lives. Now, in addition to seminars, speeches, and consulting, Barbara trains and certifies Productivity Trainer Authorized Consultants™ (PTAC™). Currently, 122 PTACs consult throughout the United States and Canada.

Ms. Hemphill is the author of Taming the Paper Tiger at Work, Taming the Paper Tiger at Home, Love It or Lose It: Living Clutter-Free Forever, and Simplify Your Workday. Her methodology is featured in Taming the Paper Tiger software (www.thepapertiger.com) — a software program which guarantees that you can “find anything in 5 seconds!”
Known as “America’s Favorite Organizer,” Ms. Hemphill has appeared on numerous television shows, including NBC’s Today Show, ABC’s Good Morning America, CNN Nightly News, CNBC, CNN-FN and HGTV. She speaks frequently at national conventions, is a corporate spokesperson, and a consultant to small businesses and major corporations. Barbara has been the cover story on Guideposts. She has been featured in magazines and newspapers, including Fast Company, Investor’s Business Daily, Business Week, Home Office Computing, Reader’s Digest, USA Today, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Boston Herald, Boardroom Reports, and The Wall Street Journal.
Ms. Hemphill is the mother of five children and a grandmother of two. She and her husband, Colonel (Ret.) Alfred Taylor, live in Raleigh, NC. Barbara practices what she preaches. Her office sits amidst 70 wooded acres on the shore of a pristine lake, where she gets her work done and enjoys her life!
